I started tuning pianos in 1966 while I was a student at Union College in Lincoln, Nebraska.  I had taken a class in Piano Tuning as an elective. 

I found a Piano and Organ store that was looking for a piano tuner. I got my experience by repairing and restoring used pianos that they had brought in to the store as trade-ins.  I also did the store's free tuning when they sold a customer a new piano.

After passing a test, I was hired. 

 I tuned for them for 2 years and then I moved away after I graduated from college.

I started teaching school in the fall of 1968. 

Over the 40 years of teaching, I tuned on the side to make extra money.  Every place I moved to over the 40 years, I would find a store and start tuning for them.

In 2008, I lost my wife of 42 years after a long illness. 

In October of 2008, I retired from education and moved to Tennessee to open my tuning business.

A piano is a fine musical instrument and is suseptible to temperature and humidity changes.

 All pianos must be tuned. 

It is recommended that your piano be tuned at least once a year, but don't fret.  If your piano hasn't been tuned for a few years it is not too late to have it tuned. 

 I do estimates for tuning, repair, restoration, and any other work that needs to be done on your piano. 

If it has been a number of years since you had your piano tuned, it may have dropped in pitch and will need to be pulled back up.

The best way to do that without taking a chance on splitting your bridge or the sound board is to pull it up using a special process and then it will have to be tuned again 24 to 48 hours later
